CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

June 26, 2023 - 5:30 p.m. - City Hall

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on June 26, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Bowman, Tull, Cruz and Zabel; Nelson absent. Staff present was City Clerk, Dawne Bowman and City Administrator, Allison Kitzman. Others present were Will Fargo and Colleen Larimer.

Bowman made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried. Tull made a motion to approve 6/12/23 minutes, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried. Bowman made a motion to approve the payment of bills, seconded by Zabel, all ayes, motion carried.

Zabel made a motion to approve Resolution 23- 28 Concerning Construction and Maintenance of Lenox Trail Extension, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried. Kitzman explained that this is for Phase 3, going from Van Buren to the golf course.

Will Fargo, Garden and Associates, was present to discuss current walking trail project, explaining that it is complete to the tennis court and are finishing by the rodeo grounds. Bowman made a motion to approve pay Application #1 to Hymbaug Construction for Walking Trail in the amount of $27,341, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Bowman made a motion to approve Special Even Permit Application from Lenox Chamber for Old Fashioned Fun Night, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried. This application is the same as previous years.

Tull made a motion to appoint Jenna Brown to the Library Board to replace Heather Samo, with term expiring 7/2026, seconded by Zabel, all ayes, motion carried.

Zabel made a motion to approve Resolution 23- 29 Employee Wages, seconded by Tull. Roll call votes- all ayes, Bowman abstained, motion carried. The new wages are as follows: Ryan Brown $26.75, Lynn Christensen $30.75, Quent Dalton $32.00, Blake Horton $28.00, Leevi Marshall $20.00, Dawne Bowman $25.90, Allison Kitzman $76,000.00, Shari Burger $19.34, Tracy Thompson $13.00, Carol Rogers $12.50, Bobbie Gillespie $11.00, Lisa Tiepelman $15.00, Marlene Boltinghouse $12.00 and Linda Hogan $20.00.

Bowman made a motion to approve 1st Reading of Ordinance 392 Amending Sewer Service Charge, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried.

Tull made a motion to approve Dally Post Cigarette/Tobacco/Nicotine/Vapor Permit Application, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed the property on South Walnut, which has been vacant since 2016. Zabel made a motion to approve moving forward with the abandoned property process, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.
