CITY OF LENOX

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on May 22, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Bowman, Nelson, Tull and Zabel; Cruz was absent. Staff present was City Clerk, Dawne Bowman and City Administrator, Allison Kitzman; and visitor, Colleen Larimer.

Bowman made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Nelson, all ayes, motion carried. Nelson made a motion to approve 5/8/23 minutes, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried. Zabel made a motion to approve the payment of bills, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed an increase to the monthly garbage rate. Due to the cost of living and the landfill fees increasing, Tom Christensen is asking for a $6.00 increase per month, per customer beginning with the June 2023 billing. Zabel made a motion to approve Resolution 23- 21 increasing monthly garbage rate, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed the manager applicants for 2023 pool season. There were 2 applicants, Brooklyn Ecklin and Caitlyn Maynes. Mayor Douglas expressed concern with the wages and added that they should avoid working together to keep payroll costs down, if possible. Kitzman added that a manager is needed at all times, whether they work together or not. Bowman approved co- managers at a wage of $15 per hour, seconded by Nelson, all ayes, motion carried.

Bowman made a motion to approve Resolution 23- 22 Seasonal Pool Employee Wages, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed New Housing Incentive Package, explaining that this would be above and beyond the current tax abatement that owners of new construction currently receive. Kitzman mentioned possibly a new construction with an appraised value at a certain amount. Bowman mentioned he would be all for assisting the buyers, more than a assisting the developer. Zabel added that something like this has been done in the past and the community should have some involvement in the package. It was the consensus of the council that this is not something that can be decided at 1 meeting. This will be on the next agenda.

Nelson made a motion to approve Casey's Cigarette/Tobacco/Nicotine/Vapor Permit application, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed the Golf Tractor lease. Zabel made a motion to approve the lease of 2023 John Deere tractor for the golf course, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Tull motioned to adjourn the meeting, Nelson seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:50 PM.
