City Council Regular Meeting Minutes

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on May 29, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Bowman, Borland and Custer; Ramsey and Vogel were absent. Staff present was City Administrator, Allison Kitzman and City Clerk, Dawne Bowman. Other visitors were Jeff Godwin, Colleen Larimer and Deputy Lynn.

Custer made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve 5/14/18 meeting minutes, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried. Bowman made a motion to approve the payment of the bills, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve reappointment of Roger John to the Board of Adjustments for a term of 5 years, with term ending June 2023, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Bowman made a motion to approve reappointment of Kim Morris, Tara Malausky and Tom Christensen to the Park and Rec Board for a term of 2 years, with term ending June 2020, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve Spotlight of the Week from Memorial Day to Labor Day, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve Resolution 18-24 Increasing Rate for Mowing Properties, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Bowman made a motion to approve 5 day liquor license and outdoor sales for Abbee Sheley DBA the Reed Benefit, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve lease for Community Center to Abbee Sheley DBA the Reed Benefit, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve change order #2 for Neighborhood Center, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to approve Resolution 18-25 Adopting Council Rules and Procedures, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed quotes for the Wetland Project at sports complex. There were 6 bids received for the project and Jeff Godwin with Snyder & Associates was present to discuss these bids. Kitzman also informed the council of the portion of land that had been recently planted by the FFA that will potentially be destroyed due to the project. Godwin suggested putting a crossing in to allow entry in the future, as big farm machines will not be allowed on the walking trail.

Borland made a motion to approve JNC Construction for Wetland Project at a cost of $17,570, seconded by Borland, all aye, motion carried.

Bowman moved to adjourn the meeting, Custer seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:50 P.M.
